Central Serous Chorioretinopathy
What is Central Serous Retinopathy?

CSR is condition of unknown cause that seems to be more common in young to middle-aged men. It can be associated with stress or the use of steroid medications in any form(tablets, creams, eye drops and puffers). Fluid accumulates under the macula, leading to blurring of central vision and/or distortion of vision.

How is Central Serous Retinopathy treated?

Fortunately, in most cases CSR can resolve by itself, usually over a period of a few months. The vision usually returns back to normal or very close to normal, although it is possible for the fluid to return again later in life, or in the other eye.

In the minority of cases, CSR can remain persistent, or cause a significant reduction in vision. Dr Raj has access to and extensive experience in all of the different treatments used for CSR, including photodynamic therapy or cold laser, standard laser, and the newer ‘micropulse laser’, which is thought to be more gentle on the macula.
